The Sales & Marketing and Aftersales divisions of Mercedes-Benz South Africa Limited (MBSA) have announced some important management appointments. Beginning on February 1, 2023, Selvin Govender, who is now in charge of Marketing and Sales for Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA), will assume responsibility for Marketing and Sales for Mercedes-Benz GDs Europe, Middle East, and Africa (MBGD).
Beginning in 2000 as a Key Accounts Manager, Selvin has worked for Mercedes-Benz SA since. During this time, he has held a variety of positions, including Manager: Certified Pre-Owned and Remarketing Operations, National Sales Manager, and Marketing Director for Mercedes-Benz Cars. He was chosen to fill the position of Vice-President for Marketing & Sales at MBSA in 2021. The transition to a data-driven marketing ecosystem was led by Selvin, who succeeded in achieving MBAG’s goals of revitalizing the Mercedes-Benz brand in Southern Africa, and he contributed to establishing the centralized marketing framework for direct sales and e-commerce.
Mark Raine, co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz Cars and executive director of MBSA, stated that Selvin has been instrumental in making MBSA successful as the market leader in the premium segment for 22 years. He will do well in his new position as Vice President and Director for Marketing and Sales for MBGD and raise the profile of our brand on a global scale thanks to his interpersonal and communication abilities as well as his strategic and business acumen.
In terms of personnel changes within the Aftersales business, Alexandre Ferreira, who is presently the Head of Customer Services MBC at MBSA, will start working for Mercedes-Benz Brazil on January 1, 2023, as the Strategic Projects Lead MBC.
Over his 26 years with Mercedes-Benz, Alex has held a variety of jobs in both commercial and passenger vehicles. Alex joined Mercedes-Benz Brazil in 1996. In 2009, when he was designated Senior Manager for Dealer Network Development Brazil and Latin America, he made his first step into the aftersales industry. In Brazil, Alexandre took over as Customer Services Director MBC in 2014, a year in which the business had five years of continuous revenue growth in the double digits.
“MBSA would like to thank Alexandre Ferreira for his dedication to the success of the Aftersales division and the transformation of our company to position it for future growth and exceptional customer service. We wish him well with his new role of strategic importance in Brazil,”
Mark said in closing.
Selvin and Ferreira’s successors will be named and informed in due time.
