Hello Mabs
I will be travelling out of the country for a while. I’d like to know what the best way is to store my car, since I will not be driving it for months. Should I keep it in a garage or outside, and what maintenance should I do beforehand? Also, what is the worst thing that could happen to it when it stands idle?

Mabs Answers:
I love this question, and thank you for asking it. If you are going to be away for a few months, proper storage is key to keeping your car in great shape. Owing to our harsh climate, it is best to park it in a garage or covered space to protect it from sun, rain and dust. If that is not possible, invest in a good quality car cover.
Before you leave, give the car a good wash, top up all fluids, check tyre pressure and fill up the tank to prevent moisture build-up. Disconnect the battery to avoid it going flat. If someone can start the car every two weeks, even better. Plan ahead, store your car safely and you will return to a car that is just as ready to go as you are.
