How did you become a motoring journalist and when did your career begin?
My career began in 2019. I’ve always been a car and computer guy since I could pronounce “vroom vroom”
Was it easy to break through? What were the major challenges for you?
Like in any industry, it’s never a smooth transition or an easy breakthrough. The challenges were mostly human but I managed to overcome those.
What was the very first motoring launch you attended and what stood out about it?
My first launch was the BMW X5M as well as the X6M. I felt like I was thrown in the deep. Arrived at the launch and did not know what a launch route was or how to navigate. What stood out was that no one wanted to drive with me. It taught me a lot though
What was the very first car you drove (personal & a test car) and please describe the feeling?
My first car was the BMW 320d E90 and geez, what a car that was! I would buy it back if I could. My first test unit was the Subaru XV and I could not sit still lol. I was all over.
What was your most embarrassing moment as a motoring journalist?
My most embarrassing moment was when I posted about the Volvo EX30 before the embargo was lifted.
Describe your journey to becoming a COTY jury member. What unique qualities do you bring to COTY?
I’ve worked extremely hard to be part of the COTY community. Bringing in user feedback from the social community as well as general experience I’ve gathered over the years.
What do you look for in the Car of The Year? Please name two favourite finalists that have what it takes to become this year’s winner.
Practicality, efficiency as well as reliability. My favourites this year, are the BMW X1 as well as the Honda Civic Type R.
What item do you take from the hotel from launches?
I don’t usually take anything from the hotels. But when we are given wine, best believe I’m taking it home.
