What is a girl to do when you have the new Range Rover in your garage and no plans? You dress up in your Sunday finest and let the beast find you a perfect spot for much-needed R&R.
It is a Sunday afternoon, the Gods have conspired and blessed us with perfect weather. The warm highveld sun gently kisses my skin as I turn towards the boom gate of the venue the Range Rover has chosen for the day. Avianto signpost appears right before my eyes.
I am going to the restaurant, I answer the gentleman posted at the gate. I decided to make it a special afternoon. I’m meeting two special men in my life – my son and XploreZA photographer @3rd Eye Visuals.
As I drive through the boom gate, I am greeted by a full car park as I follow the signposts to the restaurant. Even with a car park filled with an impressive selection of cars, the Range Rover’s presence is imposing and its roar reverberates across the lot as I try to secure a space. Eventually, I manage to land a great, park and make my way to the restaurant.
The Italian-themed property is situated on the outskirts to the west of Johannesburg. Upon entering the property, you are greeted by the warm countryside atmosphere even though you are just 30 minutes away from the Johannesburg CBD and 40 minutes from Sandton.
If you’re looking for a truly exceptional Sunday lunch experience, then look no further than Avianto in Muldersdrift. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported to another world, a world of tranquillity, luxury and breathtakingly natural beauty.
The restaurant itself is nestled in the heart of lush greenery, surrounded by swaying trees and trickling streams. The inside of the restaurant is just as cosy and inviting as the outside, with warm lighting, rustic furniture, and a welcoming fire that burns bright in the colder months.
But it’s the food that truly steals the show at Avianto. The chefs have mastered the art of traditional Sunday lunch cooking, with all the trimmings you could wish for. Succulent roast beef, crispy potatoes, buttery carrots, and fluffy Yorkshire puddings are just a few of the mouth-watering options on offer.
And if you have a sweet tooth, you won’t be disappointed either. The dessert selection is out of this world, with everything from classic apple crumble and custard to indulgent chocolate fondants and creamy cheesecakes.
The service is also impeccable, with friendly, attentive staff that go out of their way to make you feel at home. They’re happy to recommend dishes, offer wine pairings, and answer any questions you may have.
Overall, Avianto is the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon, enjoying fantastic food in beautiful surroundings with great company. It’s a little slice of heaven that you won’t want to miss out on.
