A Taste of Timeless Elegance at Ethos, Rosebank

By Gugulethu Tshabalala

There’s something unforgettable about an evening at Ethos. Tucked neatly into the lively heart of Rosebank ,not far from Radisson Red Rosebank, this Mediterranean-inspired restaurant feels like a quiet exhale away from the city’s noise — the kind of place where a celebration instantly feels elevated.

From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is warm, modern, beautifully curated. Ethos feels and looks good with soft lighting, golden accents and gentle acoustics create an ambience that wraps around you. And if you’re lucky enough to find yourself in their private dining area, like we were for a friend’s milestone celebration, the space becomes even more intimate.

Starters, Mains & Dessert

The food, though, is where Ethos truly shines. We started with spicy chicken livers, served with fresh, warm bread. Rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced, it was the kind of starter that quiets the whole table for a moment.

A starter that steals the show — rich, aromatic spicy chicken livers that quiet the whole table.

For mains, my sirloin steak arrived cooked to perfection, tender, flavourful –accompanied by vegetables that tasted as beautiful as they looked. And then came dessert: a velvety tiramisu that reminded us why classics never go out of style.

A perfectly cooked sirloin, vibrant veggies
A velvety tiramisu to finish — a reminder that timeless flavours always win.

Drinks

Even the drinks at Ethos deserve a standing ovation. While I don’t drink alcohol, the mocktails were a pleasant surprise — refreshing, not overly sweet, and crafted with the same attention to detail you’d expect from a fine cocktail bar. The actual cocktails, swirling past our table, looked equally impressive.

Even the drinks shine at Ethos — beautifully crafted mocktails and standout cocktails that match the restaurant’s attention to detail.

Affordability

Ethos sits in that mid-to-upper range. Most dishes are reasonably priced for a restaurant of its standard, and depending on what you order, you can expect to spend around R500–R1000 per person for a full meal including drinks. It’s definitely not an everyday spot, but for a celebration or a night out, it feels worth it.

Ethos is the kind of restaurant you recommend without hesitation. Whether it’s lunch, dinner, or a milestone worth celebrating, it delivers every single time. If you’re looking for exceptional food, impeccable ambience and a setting that makes every moment feel special, Ethos is exactly where you want to be.
