Hello Mabs
I always hear people talking about defensive driving, but nobody has ever explained what it actually means. Is it just another name for driving carefully?

Mabs answers:
Defensive driving is one of those phrases we hear all the time without anyone really explaining it. Driving carefully is part of it, but defensive driving goes a step further. It's about expecting the unexpected and giving yourself time and space to react safely.
That means keeping a safe following distance, anticipating what other drivers might do, scanning further ahead instead of only looking at the car in front of you, and always having an escape route if traffic suddenly changes.
The goal isn't to prove you're the best driver on the road. It's to arrive safely, regardless of what everyone else is doing.
One of the greatest driving skills isn't fast reactions. It's learning to spot potential problems before they become emergencies.
