Hello Mabs
I bought my first car six months ago and suddenly it feels like I am always paying for something. Be it insurance, petrol, service or tyres. Was I naïve or is owning a car really this expensive?

Mabs Answers:
Congratulations on your first car; that is a huge milestone. And no, you were not naïve.
One of the biggest surprises for many first-time buyers is realising that buying a car and owning one are two different things. The monthly instalment is only one part of the picture.
Fuel, insurance, tyre replacements, services and unexpected repairs all become part of your mobility budget. The good news is that once you understand the true cost of ownership, you can start planning for it.
If possible, try putting away a small monthly amount for vehicle expenses and build a buffer over time. The fact that you are asking already tells me you are on the right track.
