The Mahindra XUV700 is no stranger to the XploreZA garage. As we get acquainted for this second stint as our December car, the XUV is living up to expectations. The XUV700 has proven to be a reliable companion during the festive season on our farm. With long stretches of dirt tracks to navigate daily, the XUV700 has effortlessly handled the rugged terrain. Its smooth suspension absorbs bumps with ease, ensuring a comfortable ride even on the roughest surfaces. The generous ground clearance further adds to its capabilities, making it an excellent
choice for semi-rural or off-road conditions.
Inside, the XUV700 offers a refined cabin with quality finishes that enhance the overall driving experience. The plush seats provide ample support for long drives, and the advanced infotainment system keeps us entertained while effortlessly connecting to our devices. The spacious boot has been a lifesaver for transporting farm supplies, groceries, and even a few gifts for friends and family during the holidays. What sets the XUV700 apart is its modern technology. The panoramic sunroof allows us to soak in scenic views, while the adaptive cruise control makes highway driving a breeze.
Features like the 360-degree camera and lane assist add a layer of safety, especially on unpredictable roads. When it comes to fuel efficiency, it is friendly to the wallet – we have been averaging 8L/100km, not too shabby a figure coming out of a large SUV. VW Tiguan
For years, my younger brother has raved about the Volkswagen Tiguan, declaring it his dream car. At first, I didn’t quite get it, but now that I’m getting older and wiser, and get to spend the month of December with the Tiguan gracing the XploreZA garage, I finally see his point. Finished in a bold orange colour (cheekily dubbed “Trump orange”), the Tiguan brings a lively energy to our holiday drives.
This SUV perfectly balances understated sophistication with practical functionality. Its sleek design isn’t ostentatious but has a timeless elegance that VW consistently delivers. Beneath its stylish exterior lies VW’s renowned 1.4 TSI engine, offering the perfect blend of performance and fuel efficiency. Around town, it’s been an absolute delight – from grocery runs to collecting essential household items, the Tiguan handles every errand with ease.
Step inside, and you’re greeted by a meticulously crafted interior. The high-quality finishes reflect German precision, with plush seats and a well-thought-out layout that prioritises both comfort and usability. The infotainment system is intuitive, seamlessly connecting to our devices and keeping us entertained on longer journeys. One standout feature is the factory-fitted tow bar. While we haven’t had a chance to use it yet, it’s reassuring to know it’s there for any towing needs that may arise. The ample boot space has also proven invaluable for holiday prep – from bags to gifts, everything fits effortlessly. The VW Tiguan is the ideal urban SUV: stylish, versatile, and packed with thoughtful features. My brother’s love for it now makes complete sense – it’s a car for all seasons and reasons.
