This week, Chery International launched the OMODA brand in South Africa, making that nation the first on the African continent to make it available to drivers. By accepting OMODA, South Africa joins several nations offering this cutting-edge vehicle brand, including those in South America, Asia, Europe, and Australia.
The OMODA C5, the company’s debut model, will go on sale in the middle of April through 30 carefully chosen dealers that serve all of the major metropolises and cities. Each dealer has invested in the necessary range of specialized diagnostic and support services after being pre-selected to provide a specific range of sales and support services to OMODA clients.
“OMODA is a new, modern, and luxurious brand that shows what can be done when a brand is not constrained by legacy technology or design,”
says Tonyy Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.
This line of vehicles, according to Liu, “will truly surprise and thrill South African motorists” in every way, including vehicle design, performance, technology, and driving enjoyment.
Around 10,000 entries from 30 different nations were submitted for the competition, which yielded the name OMODA, combining several themes. Before OMODA was selected, the most original and significant names that represent this new spirit entered the shortlist. Participants attempted to convey the spirit of a new brand that seeks to reinvent motoring. As a brand name, OMODA stands for oxygen, new life, and vitality, and MODA stands for modern and fashion forward.
The OMODA C5 stands apart in a market crowded with undifferentiated SUVs. A design language dubbed Art in Motion was developed by the OMODA designers to produce this dynamic and distinctive new SUV. Each component, including the liquid lines that flow into the lights and shoulder line from the diamond matrix grille, was specifically designed for OMODA.
The OMODA C5’s rounded glasshouse with undetectable edges and lines, wedge-shaped roofline, flowing from the bonnet to the pinched rear quarter, and usage of tiny, arrow-shaped head- and taillamps with next-generation smart LED illumination are just a few of the model’s numerous distinctive features.
The OMODA C5’s interior fulfills the promise given its exterior design. Ambient lighting with nearly infinite colour combinations, a sleek centre console with intelligent interactive switchgear and wireless charging, and dual integrated 10.25-inch screens that seamlessly integrate the vehicle and entertainment information are just a few of the many innovations inside this five-door crossover SUV.
As part of the O-Universe, OMODERs gain access to O-Fashion, O-Life, O-Lab, and the O-Club.
“To establish the OMODA brand and community in South Africa, like in other nations where OMODA has been adopted, we have hired an altogether new team with fresh ideas. Anything is fair game as long as our OMODA consumers gain something,”
– according to Liu.
The new OMODA C5’s lineup and range will be unveiled at the end of the month, but it is important to note that the OMODA C5 is based on the T1X platform developed by the Chery Group. Its platform offers sportscar-level grip and handling without the harsh ride that is frequently associated with that class of vehicles, in addition to having an industry-leading weight and stiffness rating.
The T1X platform is also known globally for its innovative design that allows for the future use of any form of propulsion, be it internal combustion petrol and diesel engines, battery-electric systems, or even hydrogen propulsion.
To help establish OMODA in South Africa and support customers of this modern new brand, Chery South Africa has approved 30 Chery dealers to allocate a part of their dealership and staff to OMODA. This will mean that every OMODA customer will have the highest level of support and dedicated attention that they will come to know from the brand. At the same time, the allocation of dealers will ensure that every large metro and city will be covered.
OMODA South Africa has started a specific pre-order campaign at omoda.co.za/pre-order in honour of the imminent debut of the OMODA C5 and to welcome the first consumers to the OMODA brand. The first 100 clients will receive R10,000 gift cards, Bathu-OMODA sneakers, personalized vehicle stickers commemorating a limited edition model, and other special items. South Africans who are interested in learning more about OMODA can visit omoda.co.za or follow the company on its various social media platforms.
