There are catch-ups, and then there are girls' brunches. The kind where "let's just grab breakfast" turns into three hours around the table. Someone arrives with news, someone orders another round, phones come out for pictures before anyone touches the food, and somehow the conversation moves from work and relationships to holidays, money, family and everything that's happened since everyone last managed to get together.
Women's Day falls on Sunday, 9 August this year, with the public holiday observed on Monday, 10 August: a proper long weekend, and one more reason to make those brunch plans actually leave the group chat.

Vivari's Women's Day Lunch
If your girls love a theme, this one has the dress code sorted for you: all white, no exceptions. Vivari Hotel & Spa is hosting the lunch, but not at their own Featherbrooke property, so double-check before you book.

Less "quick breakfast before errands," more "clear the afternoon, we're going out." Sometimes that's exactly what Women's Day calls for.
The Classic Catch-Up

Not every Women's Day gathering needs an organised event. Sometimes you just need a beautiful restaurant, a good menu and enough time to finally hear the full version of the story she's been summarising via voice notes.

Proud Mary puts you right in the middle of Rosebank and works especially well for groups looking to turn brunch into an afternoon out. Come hungry, settle in, and don't make plans immediately afterwards. We all know how the "quick catch-up" ends.
The Courtyard Catch-Up

There's also something lovely about a quieter brunch, away from the big hotel production. Arbour Café & Courtyard offers exactly the kind of setting that suits a long conversation over breakfast and coffee.

For The Pretoria Girls
Make a Day of It
Pretoria doesn't need to sit this one out. Women's Day celebrations are happening across the capital too, which means brunch can easily be the start of a full day out.

Start with brunch, then head to one of the capital's Women's Day experiences: brunch doesn't have to be the whole plan, it can be where the day starts.
Didn't Book? Call Anyway
Now, for the group chat that only decides what it's doing on Saturday night: don't panic, and don't assume every good restaurant in Gauteng is fully booked. Online reservation systems don't always reflect last-minute cancellations, and some spots take walk-ins or have availability outside peak brunch hours.
Instead of fighting for a 10:30 table, try breakfast at 8:30 or 9. Or flip the plan entirely and make it a late lunch. Being flexible could be the difference between staying home and discovering somewhere new.
This weekend, see each other. Book the table, wear the outfit, order the coffee, get the dessert for the table, and take the pictures before the food gets cold. Give yourselves enough time for the conversation to go wherever it needs to go.
