This is a great question. The world of motoring is changing right in front of our eyes. Some of the biggest advancements are all about moving away from traditional petrol and diesel engines. Electric cars are leading the charge with quiet, smooth-driving motors that you simply plug in to charge, no more petrol station queues! However, the infrastructure in South Africa is not moving as fast as manufacturers are launching these cars locally.

Another exciting development is hydrogen fuel cells. These use hydrogen to create electricity, and the only thing that comes out of the exhaust is water. How amazing is that? Although hydrogen cars are still rare in South Africa and Toyota has promised that we will get one soon, they’re making waves overseas. Both electric and hydrogen vehicles are great for the planet and promise cheaper running costs in the long run.

Manufacturers are also adding more safety and driver-friendly tech to these newer engines, making driving easier and more enjoyable.
