Tebello, how did it feel when you heard you’d be the face of Be Beautiful’s Mzansi Curls? What was that moment like for you?
It was a surreal moment for me, especially because it had been my prayer a year before, and felt like God had answered me. I didn’t fully grasp the magnitude at the time, but I was deeply excited and incredibly grateful.
Mzansi Curls has such a fun, proudly South African vibe. How does the fibre make you feel when you wear it?
The fibre has such a summer feel to it. Every time my hair is done, I instantly feel like I need a holiday. It’s not an everyday fibre; it deserves a special moment or a standout occasion.
Be Beautiful Hair celebrates women expressing their beauty with confidence. What part of your identity has this journey helped you embrace more?
For the longest time, I felt my most beautiful in wigs. But since embracing braids more often, I’m falling in love with my natural beauty again. No major enhancements. Just a naturally beautiful girl who enjoys styling her braids from time to time.
What’s one simple self-care ritual that keeps you glowing, calm, and grounded?
I love taking long, uninterrupted baths at least once a week, preferably on Sunday evenings. It helps me reset, breathe, and step into the new week with renewed strength and clarity.
What are your beauty must-haves you always keep in your bag or car?
Lip balm, hair ties, pocket tissues, eyeliner, and perfume. I keep them in my car and in my most-used bags so I’m never without them.
You’re always on the go. What kind of car or driving vibe matches your lifestyle?
I’m generally a lover of big cars, and the new Chinese SUVs have definitely caught my eye in terms of my driving vibe. But the BMW X6 will always have my heart.
If you could take your Mzansi Curls on a road trip across SA, where are you going and what’s the vibe in the car?
I’m in my dream car from childhood, the BMW X6. We’re driving through the Garden Route, my husband by my side, house music playing, the window open, my braids loose, and we’re both wearing shades. It’s the exact moment I’ve always imagined.
What South African location would make the perfect backdrop for a Mzansi Curls shoot?
Be Beautiful Mzansi Curls gives me pure holiday and vacation energy, so a beachy background in Clifton, Cape Town, would be perfect.
Many young women will see you on this cover. What message do you hope they receive?
You are a masterpiece in progress, and every part of you carries its own kind of magic. Confidence isn’t about being flawless; it’s about choosing to show up as you are, knowing your worth is non-negotiable. Own your beauty boldly.
And when people see you on this cover, what do you hope they feel about your journey?
I want them to see endless possibilities. That vision board is not in vain. You’ve already manifested the life you desire; now it’s about working toward it. You can be a wife, a mother, and still achieve everything your heart wants. I want them to see a girl who pursued her dreams despite her background or circumstances. No dream is too big when you're willing to work for it.
