South African winters can turn any happy soul into a miserable one, but not because it is too cold but simply because it is too dry. Mabuyane Kekana took a trip to the Eastern Cape to “forget” the inland dullness.
It is a rather calm afternoon when I land at Port Elizabeth Airport for my two day stay in this part of the South Africa. In the parking we greeted by the new Volkswagen Touareg to take us to Plettenburg Bay for our overnight stay.
The 250km journey instantly begins. My colleague and know parts of the route and immediately appreciate the fact that we driving through the famous Tsitsikamma Forest. The journey take us through the highway and old roads, all fairly decent. We use the for what its intended for by taking some scenic routes(which include gravel roads) during our trip. The Touareg does not disappoint. While the first and second generation Touareg were characterised by a dominant off-road DNA, the new Touareg is more of an all- rounder, giving you the best of both worlds.
Driven by the 3.0 common-rail turbodiesel, the new Touareg is a driver’s car, enjoyable, comfortable and offers one of the best ride quality in its class.
Coming from the same platform as Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, the Touareg is sure built on solid ground.
