Hello Mabs
How do I maintain my car’s battery, especially in winter? Lately, I have been observing that it goes flat very quickly. What are the signs of a dying battery?

Mabs Answers:
There’s nothing worse than being late, rushing to your car, turning the key and…
nothing. The cold season is notorious for flat batteries. I’ve been there, and it’s not fun.
To keep your car battery in good condition, make sure the terminals are clean and free from any white, powdery buildup. That’s corrosion, and it can interfere with your car’s ability to start. Also, ensure the connections are tight.
If your car is going to be parked for a while, unplug the negative terminal to prevent the battery from draining. And if you’ve had to jump-start your battery, remember that a quick drive around the block is not enough; you’ll need to drive for at least 20 to 30 minutes to give it a proper charge.
Always follow your car’s manual when jump-starting. Doing it incorrectly can cause
serious damage to the vehicle’s electrical system. If your battery keeps going flat, it’s worth taking it to a battery centre for a proper check and full recharge.

Stay warm, stay safe, and keep those batteries charged!
