Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) has reached a new high, recording its strongest-ever annual production at its Gqeberha plant for the financial year ending 31 March 2026.
The numbers tell a clear story: a 21% year-on-year increase, with more than 27,400 ISUZU D-MAX bakkies and over 3,800 ISUZU Trucks produced. But beyond the figures, this kind of growth signals something bigger , steady demand for dependable vehicles that keep businesses, logistics and economies moving across Africa.

It also reinforces Isuzu’s staying power locally. The brand has held its position as South Africa’s leading medium- and heavy-commercial vehicle manufacturer for 13 consecutive years, a reflection of long-term trust built on reliability and consistent performance rather than short-term gains
Rather than a once-off spike, this milestone points to a measured approach to growth. IMSAf has aligned production with real market demand, scaling responsibly while maintaining the quality and durability the brand is known for. In a sector where uptime is everything, that balance matters.
At its core, this achievement is as much about people as it is about production lines. Backed by a skilled workforce and a focus on shared progress, Isuzu continues to position itself as a long-term player in Africa’s mobility and manufacturing landscape.
As the industry evolves, milestones like this don’t just mark output, they reflect confidence in local manufacturing and the role it plays in keeping South Africa’s transport ecosystem moving.
