Hello Mabs
I drive long distances for work and recently realised I grip the steering wheel so tightly that my shoulders ache afterwards. I think I am becoming anxious behind the wheel. Is this normal?

Mabs Answers
You are not alone. Driving fatigue and driving anxiety are more common than people realise, especially when life already carries so much pressure before we even turn the ignition.
Long commutes, heavy traffic, aggressive drivers and constantly being alert can quietly take a toll.
Start noticing your body. Are your shoulders tight? Are you clenching your jaw and holding your breath?
Try softening your grip. Adjust your seating position. Take breaks on longer trips. Put on music that calms you.
And if anxiety feels persistent or overwhelming, please speak to somebody professionally. Driving should feel empowering, not exhausting. Your wellbeing matters just as much as getting to your destination.
