Mercedes Benz EQB, a luxurious day to day EV

BY Mabuyane Mabuza

The first question I get whenever I drive an electric vehicle is how far one can get in a single charge followed by how will one charge considering our country’s power supply problems.

These concerns are valid. To put your mind at ease, the SA motor industry is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the country is ready for the inevitable roll out of electric vehicles.

ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles are going to cease to exist, well maybe not completely, at the initial stage but will eventually. Without further ado, let me take you through what I experienced during my recent test of the new Mercedes Benz EQB 350 4Matic. A true gem of a vehicle with its sleek lines, futuristic look and unparalleled efficiency, the EQB offers a solid driving experience.

The EQB is not only a luxurious vehicle to drive but also has many practical features that make it a valuable asset in day-to-day life in our country. The vehicle has a range of over 400 km on a single charge, making it perfect for long-distance journeys. Given the fact that there are charging stations along major routes i.e. N3 Durban and N4 Mpumalanga.

This, in turn, means that you can take the EQB for a stress-free long weekend away without worrying about recharging the battery repeatedly.

The motor industry is intensifying the charging infrastructure installation to put customers at ease.

The EQB is also perfect for the city’s streets, with a spacious interior that can seat seven people comfortably. The foldable third-row seats allow for extra space for luggage, groceries and other cargo. Additionally, the EQB comes with advanced safety features that ensure a smooth and secure ride.

One of the standout features of the EQB is its design. With smooth, flowing lines and an aerodynamic silhouette, it truly is a sight to behold. The stylish LED lights and intricate detailing on the exterior make it a head-turner on the roads of South Africa. The driver-focused cockpit and panoramic sunroof provide a sense of spaciousness and freedom while driving.

Its remarkable range, practical features and futuristic design make it an ideal car for those who value luxury and sustainability. If you’re looking for a vehicle that’s both eco-friendly and stylish, the EQB is undoubtedly worth considering as long as you have your power matters under control.

At R1,380 million, the EQB does not come cheap but it is worth it.
