What do you love about this car?
I love playing and going off-road and this car affords me the freedom to climb up and be on top of rocks. I also like that I can take off the doors and the windshield and be one with nature.
Have you experienced any difficulties with this car?
My Jeep is still performing at its best and the bond is still strong.
What were your best moments in this car?
I just got back from a solo trip to Clarens in this car. It was amazing on the off-road landscapes.
What’s the longest distance you’ve driven in it?
I take a break once a year to drive to a new destination. I’ve driven it to eSwatini for Swazi Bike Rally and Durban for Harley Davidson Bike Rally, among other places.
When I drive this car I feel strong and invincible.
Why did you add the Harley?
Owning a motorcycle symbolises independence and self-reliance. I had promised myself a Harley-Davidson when I was ready to exit corporate and had accomplished my personal goals. I’m at a stage in life where I seek personal freedom, and it gives me exactly that.
What do you love about Harley-Davidson motorcycles?
They are associated with a certain lifestyle and culture. I have always been drawn to the community and the camaraderie that comes with being part of the Harley rider community.
Also riding a motorcycle requires a physical effort and concentration, which can be a great way to stay mentally and physically active, and it also allows for a direct connection with the environment.
What was the most memorable trip you had on your motorbike?
I decided on an unplanned solo trip to Botswana. It was supposed to be a short-left closeby for the long-weekend. But the combination of blue skies, open road and the sound of my bike propelled me to keep going until I was in Gaborone. I had a fantastic weekend in Botswana.
What was your first car and what is the one memory that stands out?
It was a Mazda 323, popularly known as idombolo. GRR was its registration. I swear that car knew when it was month end. Not a single month went by without me fixing something in it.
What is your dream car?
A red Maserati Levante
What do you wish to change about fellow motorists?
I wish we could all be careful and alert drivers on our roads.
